TAGs feature, missed in HM-HG. (To assign a dinamic VLAN ID, based on a TAG assigned to the AP)

Hello!

In the HM-Classic, we've a option that is not present in NG. This feature is mandatory for us to could migrate to NG:

We've a very large Wireless infraestructure with more than 400 APs Aerohive. This infraestructure have the management divided in several OPs Units. To standarize it, we're using a mandatory Management and User's, VLAN IDs (for example MGT 10, WiFi Corp 20, WiFi Guest 30...)

And in cases in wich the remote site is not able to use this IDs, we've an alternative VLAN config (for example MGT 910, WiFi Corp 920, Guest 930...)

Thanks to the TAGs feature, we only needed to have stablished a simple and unalterable VLAN Policy, in the HM:

  • VLAN MGM: Global=10, TAG910-950= 910
  • VLAN Corp: Global=20, TAG910-950=920
  • VLAN Guest: Global=30, TAG910-950=930
  • .....

And then, we're able to delegate the installation of new APs. And the installators only need to set to the AP the tag "910-950" in the cases of alternative VLANs.

However, without this feature, would implicate that we need to modify the VLAN Policy for all the new implementations. For example by usgin the Topology Location feature, to assign the dinamic vlan.

This feature is mandatory for us, because we're increasingly the WiFi infraestructure, and the Management must be as easier as possible, without the needed of modify any policy of the HM. Without this feature, we're not able to migrate to the NG.

Could you please add this feature to the NG?

+1 vote for this feature for us as well.

We have ~ 240 WAPs, and over 400 devices all up (the rest are switches and BR)

Tags are an essential feature of managing a larger fleet.

Not keen to migrate from Classic to NG without tags!

Thank you very much for the detailed feedback. I will submit this feature request on your behalf so we can look in to adding device tags in HiveManager for you in the future.
