VLANS for AP's and Switches

VLANS for AP's and Switches

We are installing new Aerohive switches in place of our old Cisco switches, we currently have a few dozen Aerohive AP's that are running on native VLAN 1. Our Cisco has VLAN 2 for phones and VLAN3 for Data. Do I need to completely change the VLANs for all the Aerohive Devices (AP/Switch) and start from scratch?

I have created the default templates for the SR2348, SR2324, SR2208, Our core switch is still a Cisco unit, all others will be Aerohive. So under Configure ports, is there a way of changing the VLANS all at once, VLAN 2 for voice and VLAN 3 for data?

We've been replacing our Cisco access switches over the last several years. There's no need to redesign your network unless you would like to. You want to setup you uplink/downlink ports, including those for APs, as trunk ports. You can also configure Etherchannel or LACP for these links. Per Sam's recommendation, configure your station ports as phone/data ports and set the VLANs accordingly.

As best practice, I would recommend not using VLAN 1 for L3 traffic. For further reasons, see http://www.ciscopress.com/articles/article.asp?p=2181837&seqNum=11

You can host multiple VLANs on Aerohive switches by setting the port types to trunk ports in the device template. We also have a phone & data port type available for our switches as well. You can find the device templates by going to Configure> Opening the Network Policy> Moving to the Device Templates tab within the Network Policy> Opening the Switch Templates tab. Is that what you were looking for?
