You always have to buy support in addition to any Aerohive device - no matter if it's an AP, Branch Router or Switch.

 

For any support contract you can choose between 1, 3 and 5 years. You can also ask for a co-term renewal, which can be handy at a later point to align all support contracts to the same date.

 

The support contract for any Access Point is the same price, so in this aspect it does not matter if you buy AP130 or AP250.

 

Now, having said that, Aerohive sometimes runs promotion bundles for a specific hardware platform, and those sometime come with a support contract inside. Ask your Reseller for more details.

Yes for the most part. Technically you can manage an unlimited number of devices with Connect. It's the features available that are limited in Connect (for example you can make Open, PSK, or External Radius SSIDs in Connect, but not PPSK or Internal Radius). You can register for a Connect account to see what is offered by going to cloud.aerohive.com> Register as normal> Follow the welcome email's link to set your password> Choose "Connect" when asked if you'd like to use Select for 30 days for free, Select with an entitlement key, or Connect.

 

If you don't purchase support, you wouldn't be able to call or make a case with them. You would have to post any questions or issues on this community for assistance.

So Connect is a free way to manage a small number of devices, but without ongoing support (other than the community)?

Carsten is right on point, I just wanted to clarify one small thing. You can purchase Aerohive Devices without support, as long as you use them with the Connect HiveManager platform.

 

Technically when you purchase the devices, they do not come with any support. You have the option to either purchase support separately with the details that Carsten kindly provided, or to use Connect without paying for support.
