Hi all,
We are receiving more and more information regarding the new standard, WPA3.
Do you have a roadmap or a list of which devices will benefit of WPA3 during a next software update ?
Thanks,
Fabien

Hi Fabian,
WPA3 requires both access points and clients to negotiate to use the new protocols. At this point in time, there are no commercial WPA3-capable clients on the market, so even if a version of HiveOS were available today supporting WPA3, you would not benefit from it until new client hardware and/or software is available.
Aerohive intends to offer future software upgrades to support WPA3, but due to the newness of this standard and the dearth of compatible equipment for us to test against, we are unable to provide specific dates at this time, other than to say it provisionally should happen before the end of this calendar year.
Please note that we only yesterday issued a press release regarding WPA3, you can read that here: https://www.aerohive.com/press_releases/aerohive-announces-its-plans-for-wi-fi-alliance-wi-fi-certified-wpa3-security-program-and-new-private-sae-technology/
The support team do not yet have definitive information on which hardware will be supported, but the expectation is that the end-of-sale products should not be expected to receive an update to support WPA3.

Please look for future announcements that clarify this and do not take this device guidance as being authoritative.

Nick
