VDX 6730 Boot issues

VDX 6730 Boot issues

Hey There,

i work for the IT School of our local institute and we have just received an ex-production Brocade VDX 6730 from our corporate IT Team to play with.

when i go to power it on the fans serge and the message "The system is coming up, please wait..." is displayed over and over on in the terminal.
so far today this have been going on for over an hour.

my question is how long should this system take to boot, and are we able to do some sort of hardware reset?

Thanks in advance

Hi Sam,

Can you check the console to verify there are no issues with console connectivity? Perhaps try a different rolled cable or DB9 connector?

Normally, after the "The system is coming up, please wait..." message, it should boot into a uboot sequence which will allow you to stop the boot and do recovery on it.

If the console is correct and you don't see the Uboot coming up like below, then it's a hardware issue that needs to be replaced.

code:
The system is coming up, please wait...

Hello,

It should take about 7-11 mins to fully boot. It sounds like the switch is in a boot loop. Can you capture the console boot log and attach it here for us to check it further?
