UPDATED: July 2026

The ExtremeCloud™ IQ classic UI will be retired in Q2 calendar year 2027.  The new UI has been available since July 2025 to ensure customers have ample time to become comfortable before the classic UI is retired.

We will be transitioning from the classic UI to our modernized new UI which will become the default interface for all ExtremeCloud IQ customers. The final operational date for the classic UI is yet to be confirmed and will be communicated closer to the transition period.

Currently administrators are presented with the classic UI when initially logging into ExtremeCloud IQ. Beginning in November 2026, by default customers will be presented with the new UI but will have the option to toggle via the 9-dot menu back to the classic UI.

Why is This Transition Needed?

The new UI is built on a next-generation architecture that delivers:

  • Improved performance and stability
  • Streamlined workflows with a modern, and easier to use UI design
  • Enhanced monitoring, troubleshooting, and visibility
  • A scalable foundation aligned with Extreme’s cloud-managed roadmap

Seamless Transition to ExtremeCloud IQ new

  • Customers will have a new UI and UX to manage their networks with ExtremeCloud IQ new
  • There will be NO IMPACT to customers data / networks / logs / devices
  • Customers will continue to manage and monitor their network as they have been doing prior to the upgrade

What are the changes and their impacts?

  • There will be NO IMPACT to existing networks.
  • Same URL and login credentials
  • No licensing or entitlement changes
  • Network configurations, policies, data, permissions, and performance remain
    unchanged
  • Only the UI experience is updated
  • Administrators will manage and monitor their networks exactly as before, but
    now with a modernized interface
  • Existing features in the classic UI that will be retired and replaced by advanced features. These
    include:
    • WiNG Controller Data in Connected Mode
    • A3
    • SR and Dell Switch support
    • XR Routing Support
    • Legacy Entitlement Keys (LEK)

Recently added functionality:

  • The Guest, WIPS, and Location features (formerly known as Essentials)
  • Improved administrator roles and RBAC functionality
  • Manual packet capture
  • Local AP, Controller, and Tunnel Concentrator onboarding and monitoring.
  • ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine monitoring
  • Enhanced Filtering Options

Will they be fixing the device view in the new ui? The classic ui shows horizontal scroll bar all the time. New UI i have scroll down, slide it over then scroll back up and try and figure out what line i was looking at.

@christoffer_tur

I dont have that 9 dot menu... it takes me to that platform one, and i click the right dots or dashes and select classic IQ.....  Maybe once I log out and back in ill see those 9 dot menu......

Thanks mate,

@D_Bereda  Because of a single license issue - given the wrong one, it logs us into their PlatformOne, and I have to click the 9 dot menu and select classic.  I logged out and back in, clicked on the 9 dot menu, and it does not offer me the New, only classic, shown here:

Again, this is because we were given the wrong type license (a 3 pack out of 183), which some how changed where it takes us when logging in.  But as you see, only classic is available from there.

But what a pain, and not my first experience being told two opposing things from Extreme.  But let me say, ive worked with @SamPirok for quite some time, and he's a good guy and always gets to the bottom of things.

Maybe that New will show up at some point...... we couldn't get the license swapped to the proper one, so for now we are stuck with that terrible PlatformeOne at initial login... then having to click about about to get classic IQ... <sigh>.... which is fine and works.... so who knows.. next week New might show up!

have a happy day,

Hey all, yes we are getting conflicting statements from our internal teams, my apologies for the confusion. I'm working on getting a solid answer for you all now; I'll post back when I have an answer.

Thanks for your patience here, I have clarification on EOSL devices working with the New XIQ UI, our statement was too broad. To be more specific- EOSL APs will continue to be able to onboard and we are NOT planning to remove interoperability, but if that breaks in the future we won't be deploying any fixes. However, SRS, Dell switches, and XRs will not even be able to onboard to the New UI. Hope this helps, very sorry for the confusion.

Literally no way to save column layouts or filters in the new UI?

Hi @Ralexander, not currently but we have passed this on to our development team and I appreciate you sharing that you are also concerned with that feature; helps us show that it's needed soon. Hopefully we can get that built in for you all quickly. Please don't hesitate to share anything else you'd like to see in the New UI that you aren't seeing currently, all feedback is appreciated so we can make the final transition as smooth as possible.

@SamPirok  What is a newer same for same model to replace the AP1130's?

@SamPirok Thanks for clarification!

That's what I have expected, that the devices should still work but without any support!

What I am still missing is either a Web SSH Shell for the ap's like already available for switches or at least the legacy "CLI Access" under "Actions -> Advanced" to get some CLI outputs for troubleshooting purpose.

@DeVoID If you already have EP1 access it doesn't matter because it's basically the same like "XiQ New" but with some more features (AI Expert, Fabric Engine configuration,...)

@ted_beverly Yeah but if their back-end breaks the AP, they wont be fixing that!!  Whats weird is we received the wrong license which somehow changed where we logged in... goes to PlatformOne - which is horrible IMHO- and id click on the 9 dots and select IQ Classic.  Thankfully looks like in May that incorrect license will expire, and things will almost go back to normal... except for the New IQ interface..

But thats big, they break it, they wont fix it. I understand though, they are very old Aerohive AP's.  I just have to find out what their replacement is (460c? 510?, etc), so I have a backup plan.  Its not like a code issue hasnt broken stuff in my tenant before, because I know it has, and multiple times thats happened.

Thanks again, appreciate you, DeVoiD
