UPDATED: July 2026

The ExtremeCloud™ IQ classic UI will be retired in Q2 calendar year 2027.  The new UI has been available since July 2025 to ensure customers have ample time to become comfortable before the classic UI is retired.

We will be transitioning from the classic UI to our modernized new UI which will become the default interface for all ExtremeCloud IQ customers. The final operational date for the classic UI is yet to be confirmed and will be communicated closer to the transition period.

Currently administrators are presented with the classic UI when initially logging into ExtremeCloud IQ. Beginning in November 2026, by default customers will be presented with the new UI but will have the option to toggle via the 9-dot menu back to the classic UI.

Why is This Transition Needed?

The new UI is built on a next-generation architecture that delivers:

  • Improved performance and stability
  • Streamlined workflows with a modern, and easier to use UI design
  • Enhanced monitoring, troubleshooting, and visibility
  • A scalable foundation aligned with Extreme’s cloud-managed roadmap

Seamless Transition to ExtremeCloud IQ new

  • Customers will have a new UI and UX to manage their networks with ExtremeCloud IQ new
  • There will be NO IMPACT to customers data / networks / logs / devices
  • Customers will continue to manage and monitor their network as they have been doing prior to the upgrade

What are the changes and their impacts?

  • There will be NO IMPACT to existing networks.
  • Same URL and login credentials
  • No licensing or entitlement changes
  • Network configurations, policies, data, permissions, and performance remain
    unchanged
  • Only the UI experience is updated
  • Administrators will manage and monitor their networks exactly as before, but
    now with a modernized interface
  • Existing features in the classic UI that will be retired and replaced by advanced features. These
    include:
    • WiNG Controller Data in Connected Mode
    • A3
    • SR and Dell Switch support
    • XR Routing Support
    • Legacy Entitlement Keys (LEK)

Recently added functionality:

  • The Guest, WIPS, and Location features (formerly known as Essentials)
  • Improved administrator roles and RBAC functionality
  • Manual packet capture
  • Local AP, Controller, and Tunnel Concentrator onboarding and monitoring.
  • ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine monitoring
  • Enhanced Filtering Options

Chiming in on this...though I know extreme probably wont care.

I have helped multiple businesses over the years get running with Aerohive (now Extreme) APs on the connect plan. The fact that Extreme is willing to rip away Connect in only a year, forcing unplanned transitions, makes me loose faith and trust. I now have to go to every person and/or small business and tell them they have to pay more for the same features.

I will most likely transition them to some other solution, not because I can't continue using the APs and pay a bit, but because this shows a lack of forethought, care, and trust.

@jimmelvyn While I didnt know Connect is free (from what I saw posted) until recently, and dont use it at my organization, I was very surprised they would do away with it so quickly.

Sadly its not just Extreme, it appears that tons of companies are upping prices, putting costs on things that were free, adding charges to services you already pay for.  Its about greed, or the out of control price increases on everything.  In my option, part of that is about any company that is listed on the stock exchange.  Their investors expect a profit or dividend every year regardless of the market, and in the end its us, the customer who gets hosed. Truly sucks.

Maybe check out Ruckus : https://www.ruckusnetworks.com/ No idea if they offer anything for free.

or Ubiquti : https://uisp.com/uisp-overview I think these guys offer some kind of free plan - but maybe only applies to individuals.

I just realized something.  I am installing 17 AP4060x's and in Classic, New or EP1, the Transmit power is no longer shown or available on the main dashboard.  WTHeck...  I clicked on each AP, looked through all the info and do not see anything there (Clasic)

These are outdoor AP's and I need to see what the "Auto" setting is setting them to!

<sigh>... I really looked around in Classic and nothing for the Transmission power.. any ideas anyone?  Why would that be removed!

In EP1, Its not that Transmission utilization is it?, see below:

Thats the only thing I can find with Transm-anything in it.  I really need to know because one AP need to be at almost max, but I need to see what its set to right now.

Ideas where that is, or it is just gone?

EDIT... FOUND IT (only in EP1/New)...  its under Network Devices >>Device Status >>AFC Tab.  Shown here:

Why on earth it isnt on the main dashboard next to the AP is beyond me!

Anyone else notice a lot of things are now missing in XIQ Classic? as well as new errors - like reverting an AP to template defaults (save and deploy), when you go to deploy you get an error at the top about a delta config update isnt good enough and to do a full, even though all you did was click Deploy..

Its being depreciated, thats for sure, and seems almost in "real time".

I have noticed Client Trail information is spotty (large gaps when I know a client was connected) but that could be due to older APs.

I was on a call the other day and an SE on the call said that the next update of the new UI would add many more missing features that are available in Classic.

@JA We can only hope that its sooner versus later on the next update.  Thanks for sharing your SE gave you some info on this transition.

I wish they were not in what feels like a mad rush to get this new and EP1 rolled out.  It "feels" very rushed, and at the same time they take away functions/features within Classic and either dont say where they are on the new and EP1, or if they even "made the cut" to new and ep1.  So if there is parity between classic and New/ep1 we dont know....

@SamPirok It's been a while and I was curious if you have any more info on my issue with the new UI missing the ability to do Site Policies for VOSS.

@SDK Without knowing which country @SamPirok works from, I can only guess that being June (almost July) vacations have been put in place.  Sam has been a bit quiet, and im just hoping those in power didnt slap hands if you know what I mean.  None of this is Sam's fault given "they" handed Sam the contradictory info which was then posted... and then fairly quickly clarified.

Just saying.

I am curious if the "Description" filed will be added as an option in the new GUI?  We use this as a sorting tool instead of the location filed.

@Jason_Makarow I hear you.  Way back when I did the install of all the AP's I made their host name the building and room numbers.  Building A room 1 is A-1, etc.  That has been a real helper in the new UI.

But if you mean the description box for individual AP's, that is still there.... just horribly limited to 64 characters (since the beginning)/

This box:

Click on the AP, then configure and it should be one of the first things on the screen.  That box is available in EP1 and New.
