UPDATED: July 2026

The ExtremeCloud™ IQ classic UI will be retired in Q2 calendar year 2027.  The new UI has been available since July 2025 to ensure customers have ample time to become comfortable before the classic UI is retired.

We will be transitioning from the classic UI to our modernized new UI which will become the default interface for all ExtremeCloud IQ customers. The final operational date for the classic UI is yet to be confirmed and will be communicated closer to the transition period.

Currently administrators are presented with the classic UI when initially logging into ExtremeCloud IQ. Beginning in November 2026, by default customers will be presented with the new UI but will have the option to toggle via the 9-dot menu back to the classic UI.

Why is This Transition Needed?

The new UI is built on a next-generation architecture that delivers:

  • Improved performance and stability
  • Streamlined workflows with a modern, and easier to use UI design
  • Enhanced monitoring, troubleshooting, and visibility
  • A scalable foundation aligned with Extreme’s cloud-managed roadmap

Seamless Transition to ExtremeCloud IQ new

  • Customers will have a new UI and UX to manage their networks with ExtremeCloud IQ new
  • There will be NO IMPACT to customers data / networks / logs / devices
  • Customers will continue to manage and monitor their network as they have been doing prior to the upgrade

What are the changes and their impacts?

  • There will be NO IMPACT to existing networks.
  • Same URL and login credentials
  • No licensing or entitlement changes
  • Network configurations, policies, data, permissions, and performance remain
    unchanged
  • Only the UI experience is updated
  • Administrators will manage and monitor their networks exactly as before, but
    now with a modernized interface
  • Existing features in the classic UI that will be retired and replaced by advanced features. These
    include:
    • WiNG Controller Data in Connected Mode
    • A3
    • SR and Dell Switch support
    • XR Routing Support
    • Legacy Entitlement Keys (LEK)

Recently added functionality:

  • The Guest, WIPS, and Location features (formerly known as Essentials)
  • Improved administrator roles and RBAC functionality
  • Manual packet capture
  • Local AP, Controller, and Tunnel Concentrator onboarding and monitoring.
  • ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine monitoring
  • Enhanced Filtering Options

Thanks @DeVoID - for APs and network equipment, from previous messages here, it looks like they are still configurable via cli (or even tr069 etc) unless you pay for cloud license, but they still should work perfectly - just with no policy/spectrum management.

Currently, if you onboard an AP in your licenced P1 account without removing them from connect (and getting confirmation from the device that it is wiped), you get the "stale redirector" warning. It's straightforward - you just remove them, and they can be onboarded within minutes. After handover, every device with a connect license will be "stale".

I guess the follow on question for @Nithisha is once these devices get cut off, would it be better to bulk remove them from CloudIQ (and mess up peoples homelabs/personal accounts), but allow them to onboard them after!

<sigh>.. had it happen again. Classic 183 online, New 182 and wont show the AP offline (because it isnt).

I think this move to have framework thats doing JUST API calls is the wrong direction.

Its not just Extreme, so many doing the same thing, and ive noticed bugs across all of it.

Maybe this push for API calls is tied into this insane (And IMO so wrong) run to Ai, maybe it makes Ai easier to integrate... no idea.  I just know calling API's doesnt seem to work for all the company interfaces I have to deal with.

Looks like firmware updates broke: Via the new interface, I am no longer able to push firmware updates, and scheduled updates seems to have broken. Too bad - I really liked the ability to schedule updates for a time when folks are out of the office.

@CalvinRempel Let me see if I can select an AP and update to the latest version (i know one came out recently).  Ill edit this once I see if that works, but it wont be a scheduled one.

It will be 10.8.7.0 to 10.9.1.0

EDIT:  Yup, something is broken.  I used XIQ New went through the process of the firmware update, selected Upgrade Now and after clicking the final button, and then View, it shows as "Scheduled" even though I selected "now".

So far nothing has installed, and checking Classic (and New), I still see 10.8.7.0.  In New, if I try again to do a firmware update, I get this box:

So, no firmware update and its been quite a few minutes already.  Im temped to try do the firmware update in Classic, but afraid I might actually brick the AP as New might interfere with it.

In New and looking at its history, no start or end time for that AP I tried to update:

<sigh>

Im going to leave it because it says one is "scheduled", and check back tomorrow.  The internet is on fire right now - check DownDetector and you will see AWS, CloudFlare, Azure, etc.  But so much more.  Maybe that is causing the issues.  Ill check back tomorrow and see if that AP upgraded the firmware.
