ExtremeCloud™ IQ UI Transition: What You Need to Know

The ExtremeCloud™ IQ classic UI will be retired in Q2 calendar year 2027.  The new UI has been available since July 2025 to ensure customers have ample time to become comfortable before the classic UI is retired. 

We will be transitioning from the classic UI to our modernized new UI which will become the default interface for all ExtremeCloud IQ customers. The final operational date for the classic UI is yet to be confirmed and will be communicated closer to the transition period. 

Currently administrators are presented with the classic UI when initially logging into ExtremeCloud IQ. Beginning in November 2026, by default customers will be presented with the new UI but will have the option to toggle via the 9-dot menu back to the classic UI. 

Why is This Transition Needed? 

The new UI is built on a next-generation architecture that delivers: 

• Improved performance and stability 
• Streamlined workflows with a modern, and easier to use UI design 
• Enhanced monitoring, troubleshooting, and visibility 
• A scalable foundation aligned with Extreme’s cloud-managed roadmap 

Seamless Transition to ExtremeCloud IQ new 

• Customers will have a new UI and UX to manage their networks with ExtremeCloud IQ new  
• There will be NO IMPACT to customers data / networks / logs / devices  
• Customers will continue to manage and monitor their network as they have been doing prior to the upgrade 

What are the changes and their impacts? 

• There will be NO IMPACT to existing networks. 
• Same URL and login credentials
• No licensing or entitlement changes 
• Network configurations, policies, data, permissions, and performance remain 
  unchanged 
• Only the UI experience is updated 
• Administrators will manage and monitor their networks exactly as before, but 
  now with a modernized interface 
• Existing features in the classic UI that will be retired and replaced by advanced features. These 
  include: 
  • WiNG Controller Data in Connected Mode 
  • A3 
  • SR and Dell Switch support 
  • XR Routing Support 
  • Legacy Entitlement Keys (LEK) 

Recently added functionality: 

• The Guest, WIPS, and Location features (formerly known as Essentials) 
• Improved administrator roles and RBAC functionality

While the extension of the XIQ Classic retirement date to Q2 2027 is a relief, it does not address the fundamental issue: XIQ New is not yet an operational replacement for XIQ Classic.

This is not resistance to change. It is a response to demonstrable gaps in functionality, performance, and reliability.

The feedback throughout this discussion is unmistakable:

• Data and health indicators differ between Classic and New.
• Summary counts do not consistently match filtered or detailed results.
• Core client and device visibility is reduced, fragmented, or absent.
• Common troubleshooting workflows require more navigation or returning to Classic.
• Basic filtering, sorting, column management, and saved-view functionality is absent or incomplete.
• Important configuration and diagnostic functions are missing, buried, or less effective.
• Performance is poor enough to materially affect operational workflows.

These are not cosmetic issues. They directly impair our ability to identify problems, validate changes, and respond to incidents.

In my environment, the performance gap is significant. EP1 takes approximately 10 to 20 seconds to load the Network Policies interface and becomes noticeably sluggish in the device view. This is not simply a matter of UI preference; the performance difference materially affects day-to-day administration and troubleshooting.

Beyond performance, the interface provides poor control over information density. Columns cannot be resized below unnecessarily large minimum widths, leaving small data fields surrounded by excessive empty space. When managing hundreds of APs, this creates a visually chaotic interface and reduces the amount of actionable information visible at once.

More importantly, the same environment can produce different results in the two interfaces, as I and other customers have documented throughout this thread. When health indicators, summary counts, filtered results, and device or client details do not agree, the discussion shifts from UI preference to operational integrity. Once administrators cannot trust what the management plane reports, it is no longer dependable for its primary purpose.

The additional time should be used to correct these documented deficiencies, not characterized primarily as time for customers to become comfortable with the new interface.

Before Classic is retired, Extreme should resolve the documented data discrepancies and workflow regressions, define measurable readiness criteria for XIQ New, and demonstrate that those criteria have been met. Classic should remain available until then.

@DeVoID I am able to reboot APs without issue - I don't get the error you mentioned.
