Enable Aggregate MAC Protocol Data Units

Hi all,

At our customer we have multiple sites running hundreds of AP410c’s. Some of these sites use Voice over Wifi. Do you guys recommend turning on the following setting:

  • Enable Aggregate MAC Protocol Data Units

This is seen in the radio settings of the AP.

Thanks.

It can increase delay (https://inet.omnetpp.org/docs/showcases/wireless/aggregation/doc/index.html), though as far as I'm aware 1ms or so isn't much delay for voice to be noticable?

Enabling AMPDU will increase efficiency in your WLAN as multiple frames can be aggregated onche the client has access to the medium, and only unacknowledged individual MPDUs must be retransmitted.

does this increace latency? (voice)

The decision to agregate frames in the voice queue is up to the client device. Test your devices, it won't increase latency usually. It will improve airtime and, indirectly, voice performance.
