x440 reaches 77 degree celcius, and fans never work

As seen in the image above x440G2 reaches 77.5 celc. But fans are 0 RPM.

Is the device faulty?

I got tripped up by this as well.   Don’t feel bad.  

As first glace you think the switch is going to melt. 

As the KB article that @Christopher Thompson posts, the thermometer is reading the CPU temp.  Not the ambient temperature of the airflow.
