We recently purchased netsight software, and was able to discover all the switches and getting all events messages. But unable to get the traps and syslogs. Followed the procedure mentioned in document, but not helped. I am getting an warning message in traps window "unable to find events in log file" .
Request you to please support for getting the same.

"tcpdump -i eth0 port 162" is this port number is same for all services?
Yes, the switch should be (enabled/configured) to send traps as well as syslog pointed towards the Netsight IP in case if this is not done yet. ? how to ensure this one?

set linkflap action fe.1.3 disableInterface
set linkflap action fe.1.3 genSyslogEntry
set linkflap action fe.1.3 genTrap .... "Same for all 28 ports"

set snmp group ABCDEV3@ user ABC6service security-model usm
set snmp notify TVInformTag tag TVInformTag inform
set snmp notify TVTrapTag tag TVTrapTag
set snmp targetaddr TVABCDservice XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX param TV1ABCDservice mask 0.0.0.0 taglist TVInformTag nonVolatile

Is this right? can you please confirm the configuration....

Hi Prasanth,

Yes, the switch should be (enabled/configured) to send traps as well as syslog pointed towards the Netsight IP in case if this is not done yet.

If possible try to trigger a Trap and do a packet capture in Netsight and see if you can see the SNMP traps.

here is an article to help you on the same.

https://gtacknowledge.extremenetworks.com/articles/Solution/No-traps-displayed-in-Netsight-Console

Or the easy way as Ryan stated install Wireshark in the Windows server where Netsight is running and capture the packets and look for the SNMP traps in the packet capture.
