Does GTAC recommend enabling .11k on all wireless installations with 37XX - 38XX and v9.21 firmware? Are there any known issues that develop once enabling it? Also, in what situations would you find it beneficial to enable it?

In the 9.21.03 release notes we noted "We recommend not to enable 802.11k feature for installations with Voice-over-IP phones". Clients have to support the feature in order for it to be useful...

Hi Jeff,

I would have to say that in my 9.21 upgrades, performance has slightly increased over 9.15.x but is definitely more stable. I am not GTAC, but definitely recommend the upgrade.

As far as .11k, Im not so sure on. If you are looking for a load balance solution, i would say using load groups depending on the architecture you have your AP's deployed. If each AP is within 35ft or less from one another, i would use the load groups. The load group with dynamically balance client connections based on capacity and performance. If they are further than 35ft, then I do not see it being an issue to try. Keep in mind that most cases where you enable then disable a feature, it will involve a reboot of the AP to turn that feature set off.

As always, take caution when trying new technologies in your production environment.
