WL3 recommended settings

We found the following https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000087305 which states that ADDBA support and Aggregate MPDU should be disabled.

We are using AP3915i and V10.41 Firmware and the default setting is ADDBA support and Aggregate MPDU enabled. However, the knowledge base article above states to disable it.

Is this (disable that) because of the following (resolved) problem: https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000075743

Currently, we do not have any problem but should we disable these two options or not?

By the way we had problems (audio spikes) with WL3 (a flavor of Ascom i62) configured with g/n and 11n protection mode beeing "Auto". According to https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000075084 11n protection mode should be None, and sure enough the problems disappeared (we also had the mentioned AP log entries "WAL_DBGID_DEV_TX_TIMEOUT"). What does the 11n protection mode do?

Hello,

I think different recommendations for settings from Ascom and Extreme are caused by different main goals from the vendors. The wireless vendor wants a very stable system without problems. The phone vendor wants a system with best voice quality and long battery life.

The reality is in between and you have to figure out what is the best in your case.

Thank you for the information from Ascom, however they suggest to turn on U-APSD and they have enabled ADDBA support and Aggregate MPDU as well.

“Make sure that WMM and U-APSD is enaled. U-APSD is strongly recommended in order to increase battery performance.”

You suggest to turn off all these settings!

Last but not least,

here are the very good interop test documentations from Ascom for the I62 (== WL3) with Extreme Networks and Wing and many other vendors. You will find all wireless settings used during the tests.

The last test is with Controller Version 10.41

Hello Andreas, another idea. Ask your Unify contact for the WL3 test documentation. Is normaly with a lot of hints regarding Cisco and Extreme but not freely available.
