One specific type of device on one particular WLAN is having a nightmarish time with 5g and continually switches bands. Other devices are stable on the same network. I think it boils down to this device being handheld (moving a lot), battery-powered, and having no external antenna, whereas other devices on this network are either more robust in design or not in motion. It is happening often enough to impact the end-users.
It does not appear the device has settings available for selecting a single band. Does anyone know of a mechanism to possibly add them to a group and block them from the 5g radio? Or some other method to accomplish directing them to 2.4 only? Band-steering in reverse... There are a lot of these, so I'd like to try to avoid reconfiguring them to another WLAN specifically set up for that purpose. Something on the controller level would be ideal, but I'll look at anything. Thanks.
