10.2r4 firmware causing AP650's to lose connectivity?

Okay, I don’t know what’s happening here but this isn’t looking pretty. All of our AP650’s are losing connectivity multiple times throughout the day.

Look at this! Some AP’s will only do this once or twice and others are doing it often, like this ? There’s nothing indicating any type of error or issue. We didn’t have this problem on firmware 10.09rb.

I have a case open with GTAC, but are we the only ones seeing this issue?

Just got a very similar report from a different site, different AP model, different firmware, also matching graph dip

Anyone have any more news on this front?

Here is a graph from today for an ap that I’m getting reports of all clients disconnecting briefly daily around 10-11am.

again, the graph doesn’t show the same dips if different time windows are chosen, but this is the first time the graph has correlated with an issue report.

I’ve closed about a dozen tickets in my environment for Wi-Fi disconnects since rolling everything back to 10.0r8a & 6.5r12 respectively. Seems like the disconnect issues being reported were def. related to either 10.0r9b, 6.5r13, or a combo of both. Of note, I am still seeing memory usage drops on graphs for both firmwares.

def. share your pain. Config items I’m currently not using in order to eliminate variables. These were all off while we were experiencing connection issues (connected : no internet)

band steering

load balancing

short guard interval

frame burst

Voice Enterprise k,v,r

DFS

WIPS

Quick update: I was able to submit a syslog of an AP that dropped clients. It’s worth noting that the clients were unable to reconnect for a few minutes. Also, soon after the disconnect, a memory dip occurred in XIQ. It seemed odd that a dip happened within 10 minutes of the clients being dropped. Makes me ponder about a time discrepancy with the synch of the AP’s and XIQ.

@a.huerzeler yeah, we have every kind of device; I had k, v, and r on for the benefit of the Apple devices like you had mentioned. They seriously said there is no advantage in non 802.1X!? I almost have every option turned off that would “enhance” our WiFi experience; it’s so bare-bones it makes me really disappointed because the AP650’s have so much potential. Have you done the same?

I’m also experiencing DFS broadcast storms taking my AP’s offline, 10.0r9b has that bug. I’m happy to see that older firmware has things “stable”. We are increasing our student load by the end of the month, so I’m hoping something changes for the better with XIQ and the firmware.
