The future of the AP7522

The future of the AP7522

Hello,

has anyone some information about the future of the AP7522?
Is there already a EoS or EoL announcement?
I am asking because me was told that the AP7632 should/would be the successor of the AP7522.

Regards,
Stefan

Hello Stefan,

Theoretically 7632 is a successor, but 7522 is quite popular and so far I couldn't find any announcement like this. You could find them here: https://www.extremenetworks.com/support/end-of-sale-and-end-of-support-products/, or at the partner portal.

Hope that helps,
Tomasz

Hi Stefan,

I was also looking for the answer on the same question. According to the information regarding the end of sale information, AP7522 would be end of life (EOL) on 30-03-2022. See http://bit.ly/2klBhab

Although the product EOL date is due to 30 March 2022, the End Of Software Maintenance (EOSM) has a different basis and should be considered. According to the EOSM policy, the support for the most of the software components will be ended 12-24 months after the End of Sale date (see http://bit.ly/2BQEGbD). Since AP7522 is end of sale on 15-02-2018, the maintenance for many software components will be ended on 15-03-2020.

Best regards,

Ali

Hi Ali,

What part numbers did you look at?
In October 2018 it was still in the pricebook (I don't have a more recent one currently):
  • AP-7522-67030-US
  • AP-7522-67040-US
  • AP-7522-67030-1-WR
  • AP-7522-67040-1-WR
Those EOSes are obsolete regulatory regions I suppose (like -WR or -EU).

Kind regards,
Tomasz

Hi Thomas,

We are using the EU parts (AP-7522-67030-EU)

Best regards,

Ali

Hi Ali,

I see.
EU part numbers are indeed EOS and they are replaced with -1-WR due to rebranding, ETSI certification or some EU directive (probably all of them at once  ).
WiNG 5.8.6.5 introduced support for -1-WR part numbers to configure EU countries on them: https://documentation.extremenetworks.com/release_notes/WiNG/9035159_WiNG%205_8_6_5%20Release%20Notes.pdf
Of course it's a different thing if we are talking about 7522 lifecycle or -EU lifecycle. 😉

Hope that helps,
Tomasz
