Goals
The above-stated products support the application of licensing to permanently unlock certain firmware features, or to install software. Customers who purchase one or more of these licenses will receive for each, either via email or on paper, an "Entitlement ID" (also known as a "Web Key") entitling them to a single-unit or multi-unit license.

This document discusses how to process a purchased Entitlement ID to obtain a license character string suitable for installing into an Enterasys switch/router, or into an application server.

Solution

* Log into the Enterasys Licensing portal *

* Activate the Entitlement ID...
```
  License activation requires that a minimum of one parameter (and possibly more, product-specific) be entered, in order to complete the final phase of generating the license key string that must be entered into the end product in order for it to recognize the entitlement and activate the feature. The required parameter is one of the following:
  - end customer Company Name (for C5/K/S/7100-Series, and NetSight v4.2.1* and higher) - Skip to step 15.
  - destination Controller or Server MAC Address (for IdentiFi Wireless (14973), and NetSight v2.2 through v4.4*) - Skip to step 22.
  - destination Switch Serial Number (for B2/B3/C3/G-Series) - Skip to step 29.
  *NetSight v4.2.1 through 4.4 supports both license types (5368), to assist with the transition process.

  - To install SecureStack C3 IPv6 Router licensing, see 5873.
  - To install C5-Series Advanced/IPv6 Router licensing, see 13130.

* Rehost the License after Switch Hardware Replacement or NetSight App reinstall *

If a B2, B3, C3, or G-Series unit with installed license (steps 29-36 above) has been replaced via RMA, or if a NetSight server with installed license (steps 22-28 above) has been replaced, then customers and partners may directly rehost (from the old device to the new device) a limited number of times per year.

Follow this procedure:
