S-Series, firmware 8.21.02.0001 and higher
Symptoms
"
code:ERROR: file system check
" messaging may be logged during system initialization, and followed by a reset.
The messaging will be of either, or both, of the following types:
<
>
code:System[1]Flash volume /flash2 contains corruption that could not be repaired. Please contact Support for assistance.
code:ERROR: file system check
code:Shutdown process is starting.
-and/or-
<
>
code:System[1]Flash volume /flash2 was repaired. File system data may have been lost.
code:ERROR: file system check
code:Shutdown process is starting.
Cause
With firmware 8.21 and higher, a "
" function is automatically executed at system initialization in order to perform a DOS file system corruption check, with repairs as possible. This function will occasionally find something that needs to be corrected.
Solution
If the first set of messaging ("
code:...could not be repaired...
") is seen, then the repair routine could not fix all issues on this pass. If this occurs no more than a few times consecutively and is followed by the "
" messaging, then follow the "
" instructions below. Otherwise, if the condition persists in a reset loop then please
contact the GTAC for assistance.
If the second set of messaging ("
") is seen, then the user should check that the configuration as displayed in the output of a '
' or '
' matches to the backup configuration file taken as of the last known config change. Apply any necessary corrections, but no action is warranted beyond that.
