Hi community,

i wondering if it is possible to also obtain ip-addresses and host names of the virtual machines as additional informations into EMC. MAC-addresses work fine so far, but it would be great if we can see couple of more informations about the virtual machines which where synced.

And are there any best practices for those deployments especially with distributed vswitches?

Hostname and IP Resolution can be done via NAC directly and more efficiently. The Vmware API tends to only report information back when VMWare Tools are installed and also doesn't necessarily give us the information on a single MAC, but rather on a per-VM basis. This complicates the mapping a bit and it is generally safer to rely on the data seen by the switch/router in the network.
