You can absolutely switch to Connect from Classic, but you would have to register again with the guide I sent you. The GUI is also quite a bit different than the Classic GUI you're used to, but we have guides that can help you get set up.

I would recommend migrating over in this order, to minimize downtime on your network.

  1. Register for HiveManager Connect (https://thehivecommunity.aerohive.com/s/article/Registering-for-HiveManager-Connect)
  2. Build your configuration in HiveManager Connect (if you can tell me what kind of SSID you're using (PSK, PPSK, Radius, etc) I can point you in the direction of a guide for that set up).
  3. Remove your devices from HiveManager Classic. This will reset them back to factory default settings so your network will go down at this point. (This guide reviews how to remove devices from your Classic inventory, if you need a temporary key to get back in to the Classic instance to remove your devices, just let me know: https://thehivecommunity.aerohive.com/s/article/How-To-Remove-Devices-from-HiveManager-Classic-Devic...)
  4. Add the devices to the Connect device inventory and assign the network policy you built in step 2 to those APs (This guide reviews how to add devices to Connect: https://thehivecommunity.aerohive.com/s/article/Adding-and-Removing-Devices-in-HiveManager)

Once the APs connect to the HiveManager (this guide reviews how to connect them manually if they don't connect on their own: https://thehivecommunity.aerohive.com/s/article/CAPWAP-Guide-for-HiveManager-NG), they'll automatically update with the network policy you assigned them, they'll reboot once that's done, and then your network will be back online.

This guide reviews GUI for HiveManager (formerly NG) to help you find everything, but it reviews some features that aren't available in Connect, just so you're aware: https://thehivecommunity.aerohive.com/s/article/HiveManager-Select-GUI-Overview

Thank you Sam for the info. I am currently running HiveManager 8.2r2e. We are a K-12 school and our licenses have expired because we do not have the budget since the price has doubled. Will I be able to switch to HiveManager Connect?

Yes, we have HiveManager Connect which is free to use for life but doesn't include some of the more advanced enterprise networking level features. This guide reviews how to register for a HiveManager Connect instance, in case you're interested: https://thehivecommunity.aerohive.com/s/article/Registering-for-HiveManager-Connect
