Hello ,
I have a strange problem , MLXe 4 chassis think it’s MLX Chassis,
I tried upgrading it to different version with no avail ,
telnet@SE-LAB#sh version
System Mode: MLX
Chassis: NetIron 4-slot (Serial #: *******, Part #: *******)
NI-X-HSF Switch Fabric Module 1 (Serial #: ******, Part #: ****)
any way I can fix this identity crisis ?

Can you run
dm read-chassis-eeprom 2F 1
If it says ,
HEX:
AC
this MLXe may been modified to identify itself as a Netiron XMR. You might recover it by using the dm write-chassis-eeprom 2F counterpart and a crafted hex-string containing a MLXE-4 value to overwrite this one identity byte. However, this is a very special and dangerous command. It can really brick your device, so you should/must ask the official Extreme support or reference to community \at/ extremenetworks.com before any action.
As I guess, that this MLXe has no support contract anymore, they maybe can give you some mercy for this one.

Did you check the following commands:
dm manu-get
For example on the MLXe-4 it will show something like:
dm manu-get backplane

What is the board-class and chassis type for your device there?
Maybe in the past somebody wrote / changed the identity for this device in the eeprom?

yea it is older device ,
we had to pull it out from the datacenter and put it on the lab after it had this identity crisis ,
and Iam trying to figure out if there is a way to force it to act as MLXe-4 again

Interesting, while the part number is obvious the MLXe-4 chassis, the serial number is not lookup able from the portal. This is an older device, isn’t it? Like from 2010 or 2011? Maybe it is one of the earlier devices or was once a lab or test device?
