Hi,
We have that router. One SSD shows reallocated sectors, I think it won't live long.
The disks are Transcend TS128GMTS950T. That model is not widely available anymore.
Is it possible to use other disks (we want to replace both)? Is there a size limitation or could the disks be replaced with the bigger ones (250 or 500GB)?
Regards,
Piotr

Pitor,
As a wise man once said "You can certainly try..." but attempting to replace the SSD in a switch would absolutely void any warranty and Extreme would not provide any support for this. Please be cautious if you choose to follow suggestions from contributors who advise something is supported when this is their first and only post ever. Best of luck.

The warranty for that router is long gone.
It's done. Works fine.
I replaced one disk (the one without the bootloader, let's call it a disk in "slot 2") with the new one. Then cloned the remaining old one (the disk in "slot 1") to the new one with DD.
Then removed the old disk from slot 1, put there the new one from slot 2 and in slot 1 put the new empty disk.
After that the router booted to ONIE: rescue and I could netinstall SLX-OS from the usb stick.
It looks like a netinstall used the whole available space of the new disks:
[root@SLX]# df -h

Yes, you can replace the disks with other M.2 2280 SATA III SSDs, and upgrading to larger sizes like 250GB or 500GB is generally supported as long as the router's operating system and physical slots accommodate them (the MTS950T series itself offers capacities up to 512GB). Just ensure you select M.2 SATA drives rather than NVMe, because M.2 NVMe drives will not work in a slot wired exclusively for SATA.
