Hello,

If you can login to the switch with the admin account, you simply need to do the following:

SLX# conf
Entering configuration mode terminal
SLX(config)# root enable
% Info: Root password is at system default, for better security, you may want to change it.
SLX(config)#

Hi Prithvi,

You can reset the root password by following this procedure with serial console access:

Procedure

  1. Enter the reboot command.
  2. Halt the boot process with Esc Key.
  3. Select and enter the ONIE option.
  4. Select and enter the ONIE: Rescue option.
  5. Define the root login value for the root recover environment variable.
    ONIE:/ # bootenv VM_Root_Recover RootLogin
  6. Enter the reboot command.
    ONIE:/ # reboot
ONIE:/ # discover: Rescue mode detected. No discover stopped.
    Stopping: dropbear ssh daemon... done.
The root account is now enabled. You can log in with the default password.
  7. If the SLX-OS CLI is available, you can recover the root account by using the SLX-OS CLI root enable command.
