The procedure is much the same as upgrade, only a single major release at a time if you want to 7.3.x -> 7.2.x -> 7.1.x -> 7.0.x -> 6.x
If you are not worried about the configuration downgrade can be performed directly with default config
Consult the release notes for any caveats between specific versions
