To determine the overall size and structure of a network fabric, there are several approaches you can use beyond just confirming that protocols are operational. The show virtual-ist command is useful for verifying whether a device is operating with Virtual IST (Inter-Switch Trunking) and can confirm redundancy or dual-control plane operations. Similarly, show isis interface provides visibility into ISIS adjacency on specific interfaces, allowing you to see which ports are actively participating in the ISIS domain. By analyzing these outputs, you can map which devices are directly connected and contributing to the fabric.

Hello! peryourhealth
Based on the text you provided, you can determine the size and structure of a network fabric by analyzing the output of specific commands. The show virtual-ist command is useful for verifying if a device is part of a Virtual Inter-Switch Trunking (IST) setup, which helps confirm redundancy and dual-control plane operations. The show isis interface command, on the other hand, provides visibility into ISIS adjacencies on a per-port basis. By analyzing the results of these commands, you can effectively map direct device connections and understand the overall architecture of your fabric.

Hello,
Additionally to that, "show isis spbm i-sid" (or is it isid?) provides you a list of all devices in the AREA, when done on an AREA border node it lists the devices in the HOME and REMOTE AREA's.
