The ExtremeCloud™ IQ classic UI will be retired Q4 calendar year 2026. The new UI has been available  since July 2025 to ensure customers have ample time to become comfortable before the classic UI is retired.

We will be transitioning from the classic UI to our modernized new UI which will become the default interface for all ExtremeCloud IQ customers in July 2026. The classic UI will be officially retired in Q4 2026 (before December 31, 2026)

Why is This Transition Needed?

  • ExtremeCloud IQ classic is based on legacy architecture
  • No new features are being added in ExtremeCloud IQ classic
  • All features / capabilities are developed in ExtremeCloud IQ new UI and Extreme Platform ONE

Seamless Transition to ExtremeCloud IQ new

  • Customers will have a new UI and UX to manage their networks with ExtremeCloud IQ new
  • There will be NO IMPACT to customers data / networks / logs / devices
  • Customers will continue to manage and monitor their network as they have been doing prior to the upgrade

What’s Changing

  • ExtremeCloud IQ is transitioning from the classic UI to the new UI experience.
  • This is a user interface update only. The underlying platform, configurations, policies, and data remain unchanged.
  • There are specific features that will not be available in ExtremeCloud IQ’s new user interface based on customer usage or were not working in prior releases
  • There are specific 3rd party switches that will no longer be supported with ExtremeCloud IQ’s new user interface

What’s Not Changing

  • No impact to network operations
  • Same URL and login credentials
  • No configuration, policy, or data loss
  • No licensing or entitlement changes

@SDK, wanted to update you real quick, we've found documentation on how to do this in EP1, we're waiting on validation from the Fabric team that this will work in XIQ New. Soon as I have that confirmation I will pass it on to you here. Apologies for the delay.

Thank you for checking on it for us! @SamPirok

@SamPirok Currently I am still able to manage old APs such AP130 or AP230 in the new UI.

I can update the configuration and can see interface statistics, clients, and so on.

Will this be changed after the transition?

If so, why? Because it is still working fine for now

@SamPirok Glad all is well..

WHAT though...!?  what do you mean "wont be able to onboard them to the new UI", they wont move over to the new UI?...   wont even show up in the new UI? at all? - Reading the blurb, it sounded like all my AP's will go over to the new UI and a user doesnt need to do anything - but lets say they do show up, they wont show if they are online or not?  We are a school spread out on 90 acre's... I have 17/18 of these AP1130's.....!  I dont need metrics (tx/rx, app, usage, etc.), and mostly I just make sure they are online and how many client devices are connected to each... I have their config's perfect, so I dont need to change any settings (and no new firmware will come out)....

Can you please let me know answers to the above?

I need to be able to at minimum see all my AP's, whether they are online or not, and how many clients are connected (that last one is a little optional).. Let me know when you have a chance, please.

Thanks Sam

Hi D_Bereda,

No, the transition will not impact device management. Only the user interface is changing. You will still be able to manage the APs as you do today, using the same licenses and functionality.

Hi DeVoID

You won’t need to re-onboard your devices into the new UI. All of your existing APs, including the AP1130s, will automatically be reflected there without any action required from your side.

Your network policies, templates, and existing configurations will also carry over as-is. You’ll still be able to view your devices and monitor their status (such as whether they are online) in the new UI.

@Nithisha O...k.  Appreciate your reply, but this sounds exactly opposite to what Sam posted.  Because I have my config, radio profiles, etc. set as almost perfect as can be, they are treated like a "set and forget" type AP. I only care "are they online and are clients connecting to them".  Oh and seeing their MAC Address if I need to SSH into a connected switch to find out what port its plugged into.

Again, thank you.  But for obvious reasons, being told two different things by two different people at the same company..... now I dont know what the reality is for those AP1130's and the new UI.  <sigh... feels like monday>. J

@Nithisha That's completely different statement than from @SamPirok
He said that's not possible to manage the old ap's anymore, you say it is!

Currently, I am able to do this in the new UI, so it's a little bit confusing that it should not work in the end of the year.

@DeVoID I also have customer's with AP1130 which currently can be managed in the new UI.

Just try it on your own. You can switch to "Extreme CloudIQ (New)" via the 9-dot-menu and check if you see and manage this devices.

I would also request some clarity given the difference of the statements from @Nithisha and @SamPirok .
We have roughly 500 AP130/230 still active in our environments and would need to start replacing devices as soon as possible if the possibility of device management and monitoring for these ends in December.
I can see and manage them just fine in the new UI at the moment.
