UPDATED: July 2026

The ExtremeCloud™ IQ classic UI will be retired in Q2 calendar year 2027.  The new UI has been available since July 2025 to ensure customers have ample time to become comfortable before the classic UI is retired.

We will be transitioning from the classic UI to our modernized new UI which will become the default interface for all ExtremeCloud IQ customers. The final operational date for the classic UI is yet to be confirmed and will be communicated closer to the transition period.

Currently administrators are presented with the classic UI when initially logging into ExtremeCloud IQ. Beginning in November 2026, by default customers will be presented with the new UI but will have the option to toggle via the 9-dot menu back to the classic UI.

Why is This Transition Needed?

The new UI is built on a next-generation architecture that delivers:

  • Improved performance and stability
  • Streamlined workflows with a modern, and easier to use UI design
  • Enhanced monitoring, troubleshooting, and visibility
  • A scalable foundation aligned with Extreme’s cloud-managed roadmap

Seamless Transition to ExtremeCloud IQ new

  • Customers will have a new UI and UX to manage their networks with ExtremeCloud IQ new
  • There will be NO IMPACT to customers data / networks / logs / devices
  • Customers will continue to manage and monitor their network as they have been doing prior to the upgrade

What are the changes and their impacts?

  • There will be NO IMPACT to existing networks.
  • Same URL and login credentials
  • No licensing or entitlement changes
  • Network configurations, policies, data, permissions, and performance remain
    unchanged
  • Only the UI experience is updated
  • Administrators will manage and monitor their networks exactly as before, but
    now with a modernized interface
  • Existing features in the classic UI that will be retired and replaced by advanced features. These
    include:
    • WiNG Controller Data in Connected Mode
    • A3
    • SR and Dell Switch support
    • XR Routing Support
    • Legacy Entitlement Keys (LEK)

Recently added functionality:

  • The Guest, WIPS, and Location features (formerly known as Essentials)
  • Improved administrator roles and RBAC functionality
  • Manual packet capture
  • Local AP, Controller, and Tunnel Concentrator onboarding and monitoring.
  • ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine monitoring
  • Enhanced Filtering Options

@K1 Ah gotcha.  Its likely one of three things happened.  Either when Sam was let go they whacked the account which in turn broke the link, or it was not shared for external users (anonymous link) - or it might have been only for internal staff, and shouldn't have been included in the post-..

Either way that link will need to be re-shared by whoever "owns" the file now, and set with the appropriate "permissions" for all to view it.

Until that happens its going to pop-up that MS login window and even if you had a OneDrive account, and entered your credentials it wouldn't let you view it anyway.

Well, I ran into a strange bug with the new interface earlier today: It has update scheduling (which I love, and - other than a few issues like needing to unselect devices on the page you are on before moving to the next page or else it will try to schedule already scheduled devices - it has worked pretty good), but instead of scheduling the config updates it just pushes them out immediately. I had scheduled APs at multiple schools and central office to undergo a complete config update at 23:00 tonight only to discover that it decided to IMMEDIATELY update and reboot all of those APs (unless the "device down" indicator and the "uptime" indicators are lying to me).

The steps I took are:
Select the page worth of devices. Then click "Actions " > "Update Devices".
Select "Complete Configuration Update"
Select "Update Later"
See that today's date is already selected and is solid purple (weird that for firmware updates I have to click the date to get that status).
Select the time as 23:00.
Click out of the drop-down date/time menu.
See that date time shows 2026-09-14T23:00
Click "Update".

Wait for system to process all of the updates. Wait a while. Hit refresh... find myself on the wrong page and have to click "next" and wait for it to reload, and then "next" again until I get to the page of devices that I was on when I hit the "refresh" button (the one next to "Sites", not the browser refresh button). See that, even though the time is currently 16:46, that the icons have changed to green (indicating the policy is "up-to-date" on the device), and see that some have turned red indicating a reboot.

Per DeVoid's comments, I also cannot do a firmware update from the new console any more: it keeps telling me that firmware updates are already scheduled. Though, I have had fine luck doing the updates via Classic.

@CalvinRempel I think its the entire "Schedule" module or whatever you want to call it, that is broken.  It might explain why it did it right away and not on the schedule you set, and also sort of explains the firmware updates not working on New.  Ugh though, that a full config reboots the AP's immediately even when scheduled for a later time... I can only imagine that gave you a white knuckles and sweat rolling down your back moment!

Then all the steps just to get back to the page you were on!  Thats nuts.  Again, the interface is clunky, and not easy to navigate at all.

oh oh...

Now I cant login to Classic or New.  Ive cleared history, cache, and restarted, and either its really slow and finally times out, or a 50x error, or the latest one:

I can now login to both New and Classic.

But this is just IRRITATING.  In Classic, I can click on an AP, and then scroll down on the left side and select Clients to see what is Connected and Disconnected and within whatever timeframe - default is 24 hours - .

But in New, that appears broken!

Click on an AP, select Clients at the top, and its showing me Clients AND different AP's (Im guessing) under the Sites column!

When I go back and forth between New and Classic, - making sure both are for one hour - the numbers dont match, not even for Total Clients within Time-Frame.  Classic shows 56 and New showing 59!  So yeah..... lots not working, and disparate data... not that we didnt know that about the data between both being "wrong".

I need to just stick with Classic, - to keep my BP down -  but I have noticed that lately Classic is having issues - including this morning -.  Keeping my eye on wifi is quite a small part of my job, and its become very frustrating, so I can only imagine what others are going through when this is a large portion of their job!
