Summary
ExtremeCloud IQ (XIQ) 25.1 upgrade is schedule to begin on January 19, 2025.
During the scheduled RDC upgrades, there will be up to two hours in which Admin functions will be unavailable. The unavailable services include:
- Admin access to VIQs on the RDC being upgraded
- Managed device data collection
- XAPI and Webhook-based data/configuration access
- Internal API-based integrations from applications like UZTNA or MSP
XIQ is not in the data or control path for XIQ managed networks. Therefore, most networks will not experience a network outage during this scheduled upgrade. However, networks that leverage certain Cloud Authentication services will experience service disruption during the upgrade including:
- Cloud PPSK and Cloud Username/Password based user authentication to network
- Cloud Captive Portal Based user authentication to network
Background
XIQ 25.1 upgrade is scheduled to begin January 19, 2025. The RDCs Go-Live schedule will be posted here at a future date.
Impact
The following XIQ functions will be impacted during the XIQ 25.1 upgrade:
- Admin access VIQs to the RDC being upgraded
- Managed device data collection
- XAPI and Webhook-based data/configuration access
- Internal API-based integrations from applications like UZTNA
- Cloud PPSK and Cloud Username/Password based user authentication to network
- Cloud Captive Portal Based user authentication to network
Note: RDC upgrades occur during overnight hours local RDC time. If the upgraded RDC manages devices in other time zones, service interruption will occur as described above.
Example: VIQ is on VA RDC and upgrade starts at 11:00 PM EST. VIQ manages access points in Japan. The service interruption will occur at 1:00 PM JST.
The following XIQ functions will NOT be affected during the XIQ 25.1 upgrade:
- Admin login to XIQ
- External Admin access to VIQs on other RDCs
- Guest Essentials based user authentication to network

Software Affected
Symptoms
- XIQ Admin access via User Interface or API during RDC upgrade will not function.
- User access to networks using Cloud Authentication such as Cloud PPSK, Cloud Username/Password, or Cloud Captive Portal Based user authentication will not function
Workaround
None.
Solution
Functionality will be restored following the XIQ 25.1 upgrade.
