ExtremeCloud IQ REST API Authentication via SSO/SAML

ExtremeCloud IQ REST API Authentication via SSO/SAML

Hello Community,

I would like to know if there is any way to authenticate to the ExtremeCloud IQ REST API using SSO/SAML.

According to the documentation, the POST /login endpoint requires a username and password to obtain an access token.

Is there any alternative way to generate this token using an SSO-authenticated account, without requiring local credentials?

Has anyone encountered a similar situation?

Best regards.

Hello,

I’ve faced similar questions with APIs that use SSO or SAML authentication. In many cases, the REST API requires a separate API login using local credentials, even when the web interface supports SSO. I would check whether ExtremeCloud IQ supports API tokens, service accounts, or an OAuth-based authentication flow for SSO users. If none of these options are available, contacting Extreme Networks support would be the best way to confirm whether there is an officially supported workaround. It would be useful to know if anyone has successfully automated API access without maintaining separate local credentials.

Best Regards
