If the switch is an EXOS / VOSS switch and the setting is not "Manual Configuration" then upon deleting the switch from the switches list in Control - Control should reach out on Enforce and remove the configuration automatically on the switches.
As a precaution to this doing your steps (1) disable on switch and the (2) delete switch from Control / Enforce is also an appropriate path.
Either way the deed gets done.
