As I understand it, I substituted the wrong firmware file, where can I get the correct firmware file for this device?

ERS switches do not have a traditional Flash drive.  Once the .diag or .img files are loaded on the switch they are extracted and installed.  You can't move that file off the switch.

I have a working identical switch 4548
Is it possible to copy a working firmware from it?
How?

Unfortunately You be will unable to find this software on the Extreme or Avaya support site.

This product went End of Sale and End of Software support before the Extreme Networks acquisition.  So when the product line moved to Extreme the software images were not re-published.

The ERS4500 has now been end of life for almost two years.

There has been two public notices for this over the years regarding this.  One on the Avaya site back in 2018 and the End of life notice on the Extreme Site.

here is the 2018 notice

I wish I could be more help.   if you do find the software you can try and do a diag recovery.

btw, it is odd it would let you install the wrong firmware.  Never seen that happen before.  They usually would error out and not take the software if you were trying to install the wrong one.
