Hi, I understand that SX is for multimode and LX is for Singlemode fiber.
However, any chance that a 1G SX SFP can be run on a singlmode fiber?

A "Mode Conditioning Patch Cord" will allow a 1000Base-LX product to be used with multimode fiber (MMF). The Patch Cord precisely aims the incoming singlemode fiber (SMF) signal into the edge of the much wider MMF conductor, to assure optimal handling characteristics in transit. For the return from MMF to the LX equipment, the conductors are aligned center-to-center.

Unfortunately no. The MM LED-powered meant for 50/125um is too large for SM 9/125um.
However, the other way is possible with more loss.
