EXOS: ECMP via static routes ?

Does EXOS support ECMP (Equal Cost Multi Path) support with static routes ?

I have 2x X670 and want setting up L3 connections to two other core switches via 2 separate L3 links which should be load-balanced.

Is it possible to do ECMP with static routes in place of OSPF?

Hi

In addition to what all say above IP Route sharing or ECMP allows a switch to forward packets to a destination network using multiple equal cost routes if they are present. Once we enable them switch creates an ECMP table which lists upto 8 next-hop gateways for each equal cost route.

ECMP limit numbers can be confirmed through the Release Notes since that depends on the platform and feature:

Example for EXOS 16.1.4.2-patch1-3:

• Routing protocol OSPF is limited to 16 ECMP gateways per destination
• Routing protocols BGP and IS- IS are limited to 8 ECMP gateways per destination
• Static routes are limited to 32 next-hops
• L2VPNs are limited to 16 LSPs per pseudowire on platforms that support 32 gateways, and 64 LSPs per pseudowire on platforms that support 64 gateways.

Hi Matthias,

ECMP is supported for static routes or dynamic routes learned via OSPF, BGP, or IS-IS protocols.

In EXOS by default ECMP is disabled, to enable ECMP/Route sharing "enable iprout sharing"
to verify the iproute sharing execute the "show ipconfig"
