Getting .csv data / machine readable data from Flex reports

Getting .csv data / machine readable data from Flex reports

Hello friends -

I’ve been asked to generate some analytics from data within Extreme, specifically set up some alerts on  bandwidth by ports; i.e., tell the customer when a port in range (x-z) exceeds/exceeded bandwidth threshold y.

But I cannot figure out how to get this  data except via an email of completely horrible .pdf exports from a FlexReport.  If you generate a .pdf report using a columnar tab, the data can conceivably be extracted via OCR, but the formatting engine cuts off part of your data.  I have created a custom report and exported the .csv data *manually* that would be machine readable and usable, but that really isn't feasible for the number of ports I have been asked to evaluate and even if it was only port, I cannot realistically ask someone to manually run a report every day.

I cannot access mysql and anecdotally it is largely obfuscated if I do get access.

Can Connect natively set up this kind of alert?

Can I get bandwidth usage data logged out somewhere I can consume with Splunk and fire the alert that way?

I have to believe someone has solved this problem already.  Any insight on paths forward is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

brian

Newbie,

You should be able to setup a threshold alarm in XMC to trigger when the bandwidth is reached.

This alarm can trigger an email and/or a workflow.

From the workflow the sky is the limit but this requires some python skills.

I’m really not a specialist of the reporting matter in XMC, but you should be able to run ad-hoc reports from the workflow engine.

Hi Mig -

Sorry!  We are using XMC.

Newbie,

It”s not clear what “from data within Extreme” means.

Are you talking about XMC, netsight, other?
