hihow do i turn on motion detection on a x670 ? configure power led motion decection enable ? does this do it or does it just determine LED behaviour when motion dection is on ? (from conrad_jones)

cheers prusso,nearly there.i've done create log filter motion_detection_filternow i am trying something like configure log filter motion_detection_filter add event*****but i don't know what to put after event, as i tried looking for power or led or motionthanks (from conrad_jones)

Yes the switch will log the event with EMS and will send a trap.

can i send a trap to ridgeline? i don't really see the point if all it does is change the LEDs? (from conrad_jones)

Yep that is it. Here's the information from the concepts guide

Using Motion Detectors
On the Summit X670 switch, there is a motion detection system that controls whether the port LEDs are
turned on or off. When the motion detector is enabled, the LEDs are turned on only when motion is
detected. You can also configure the time in seconds that the LEDs stay on after motion is detected.
When the motion detector is disabled, the LED are always turned on.
To configure the motion detector, use the following command:
configure power led motion-detector [disable | enable {timeout }]
To show the status and timeout setting of the motion detector, use the following command:
show power led motion-detector
