password recovery fails from Bootrom mode in x670V-48x

My x670v-48x switch is running in standalone mode with sw version 15.1.2.12. The switch had a default configuration and I tried to set a new admin password by issuing the following command

configure account admin encrypted *****

My existing console session timed out and when I tried to relogin, I could not do so. I also tried the default admin with no password, but it does not work.

I did a hard reboot of the switch and followed the procedure to press the Spacebar key to get into the bootrom mode.

I think I am in the bootrom mode and not in the bootstrap mode as I see the prompt. I checked the documentation and also googled on many forums and in all cases it is mentioned that I must do a "config none" in the bootrom mode to boot the switch with the default config.

Unfortunately, when I enter the "config none" command, I get the following error

BootRom > config none
config: Command not found. Try 'h' for help!

This is the commands that I see in the Bootrom prompt

Please help. I dont mind if my configuration is lost, but I somehow have to recover this switch at the earliest.

Hey Yusuf

I did verify, as Sumit mentioned, that this version of bootrom took out the config option. I found out from PLM that the new bootrom version 2.0.2.3 will have this feature back and should be available soon.

Yusuf,

BootRom > config none config: Command not found. Try 'h' for help!

We need to upgrade switch to any EXOS software from BOOTROM, it will erase all information from flash memory (including configuration, XOS image file). Therefore, it will allow you to login into the switch using the default username and password, but it will not show “config none” command. To provide more security we have disabled the “config none” command in 2.0.2.1 bootrom (Latest).

If customer want to have “config none” command in switch then they can downgrade the bootrom to 2.0.1.7. However, it is not recommended.

We have to execute these at the BootRom after we connect MGMT port to the network which is reachable to the TFTP Server.

# configip ipaddress gateway

Hi,
in this bootrom version, you don't have anymore the config none option. You should reach GTAC for a password recovery procedure.
