Hello, I am using a Summit x250e switch with firmware 12.3.1.2. I used the command:

configuration account admin encrypted

and then typed a password and now I can't get into the switch using the password I typed. After some research it seems that this sends a hash instead of creating a password. That was the only admin account. Is there any way to get back into the switch or to find out what password I would need in order to get back in? Is there any option aside from clearing the entire configuration?

If there's a failsafe account set up you may be able to get in through that. Another way is to use the bootloader - connect to the serial port, and reboot the switch while holding spacebar on your console. Select a different config in the bootloader and start up. You can then try to edit the password out of primary.cfg, or if you have a backup of the config import the backup, sans password. I'm not sure what bootloader you're running, and it's been a long time since I've had to do this so I'm hazy on the specifics, but this can work if you have time to work with the switch (i.e. a decently long maintenance downtime window.) You need to clear the configs to restore connectivity to the switch. However, if you have support contract, TAC might be able to help you work around that. (from ethernet)
