HELLO, I´M HAVING A PROBLEM WITH X460 SWITCH RUNNING XOS 15.6.3.1, THINK IT IS NOT GIVING ME THE RIGHT POE, I´M USING ONE PORT TO CONNECT A 3COM SWITCH (3CNJ2000) THAT HAVE TWO POE PORTS AND IN BOTH PORTS I´M OBTAINING DATA BUT NO POWER TO FEED TWO AVAYA PHONES. HOW CAN I KNOW EXTREME IS GIVING ME THE CORRECT POWER TO FEED THE 3COM SWITCH? I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL INLINE-POWER CONFIGURATIONS WITH NO SUCCESS.

Read the notes carefully about poe on the 3com. It was early Poe plus so it may not be asking the extreme switch for full POE. The 3com uses about half the power for itself so it is doubtful it is passing enough power for 2 phones.

If you connect your avaya phone directly to X460. Will it work? Does your 3com support delivering PoE when powered over PoE?

Yes, the telephone Works properly when directly connected.

Yes it supports delivering Poe when powered with PoE, I did a test with a cisco switch

I´m powering the 3com switch with the poe of the extreme port.

this the result of the command:

Port State Class Volts Curr Power Fault
(mA) (Watts)
3:18 delivering class4 56.0 78 4.300 None

I think that the extreme port is not giving the power that 3com needs in order to deliver enough power to feed a poe device.
