Routing between VX870 and X450g2 not working

Hello,

Could you help me find the problem here. Workstation 10.22.100.239 cannot reach the network 10.2.30.X.

Config on X870:

configure iproute add 10.22.100.0 255.255.255.0 10.2.31.2

enable ipforwarding vlan EDGE-UPLINK

enable ipforwarding vlan SERVERS

Config on X450:

configure iproute add 10.2.30.0 255.255.255.0 10.2.31.1

enable ipforwarding vlan EDGE-UPLINK

enable ipforwarding vlan CORP-LAN

On Workstation:

• Workstation 10.22.100.239 cannot reach 10.2.30.X network.
• Workstation 10.22.100.239 cannot reach X870 interface 10.2.31.1.
• Workstation 10.22.100.239 can reach X450 interface 10.2.31.2
• Workstation 10.22.100.239 can reach X450 interface 10.22.100.251.

On X450 Switch:

• Ping to 10.2.31.2 from 10.22.100.251 is OK.
• Ping to 10.2.31.1 from 10.22.100.251 is OK.
• Ping to 10.2.30.235 from 10.22.100.251 is OK.
• Ping to 10.2.30.X network from 10.22.100.251 is OK.

On X870 Switch:

• Ping to 10.2.31.1 from 10.2.30.235  is OK.
• Ping to 10.2.31.2 from 10.2.30.235 interface is OK.
• Ping to 10.22.100.251 from 10.2.30.235 is OK.
• Ping to Workstation 10.22.100.239 from 10.2.30.235 is not reachable.

Firewall on the workstation is disabled.

The X450 isn’t doing its job. Check if ipforwarding is truly enabled. Disable and enable again just to try it out. Reboot the X450. Check the config there too to see if all subnet masks, addresses and everything is OK. A typo could ruin this simple setup. The X450 (if not a or e version) is oooold (a and e are end of life as well). Not that I don’t have a bunch in my lab, but for production…
