RSPAN on EXOS

RSPAN on EXOS

Hi everyone,
I followed the configuration instructions in this post, but I still can't get RSPAN to work. Can anyone help, please?
https://extreme-networks.my.site.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000080241

Here is my topology and my configurations:

SW2:

create mirror Remote
configure mirror Remote to port 1 remote-tag 100
configure mirror Remote add port 4 ingress-and-egress
enable mirror Remote

SW-Mid:

create vlan remote-mirror
configure vlan remote-mirror tag 100 remote-mirroring
configure vlan remote-mirror add ports 1-2 tagged

SW1:

create vlan remote-mirror
configure vlan remote-mirror tag 100 remote-mirroring
configure vlan remote-mirror add ports 1 tagged
configure vlan remote_mirror add ports 5 untagged

I have Wireshark on analyzer PC and I can catch data when I set up SPAN but I cant capture any data when I set up RSPAN.

Any idea or any mistake I did here?

Hi,
thanks for your message. I also thought this could be a problem, so I created VLAN 100 on SW2 and added it as tagged on port 1, but that didn't help either.

Thanks for sharing this technical explanation. It answered several questions I had, and the troubleshooting tips were straightforward enough for beginners while remaining useful for experienced users too.

This recipe turned out wonderfully. Everyone at home loved the flavour and texture. I'll definitely prepare it again soon, perhaps adding fresh herbs for a slightly different taste.

This was an informative and enjoyable read. I especially appreciated the balanced perspective and straightforward advice. The examples helped reinforce the key points without feeling overly complicated or repetitive.

Hello,
On SW2, you are mirroring port 4 to the remote VLAN, but make sure port 1 is actually connected to the RSPAN trunk path toward SW-Mid. The remote-tag setting only adds the VLAN tag; it does not automatically create the VLAN transport.
