VxLAN GW with NSX: Host move between HW-VTEPs support

VxLAN GW with NSX: Host move between HW-VTEPs support

With OVSDB managed VxLAN hardware GW and NSX as controller. does extreme hardware-GWs support the host move from one HW-VTEP to another HW-VTEP??
If yes, what is the minimum supported time gap between the moves??
Example: if host moves from hw-vtep-1 to hw-vtep-2 and then it moves to hw-vtep-3. What is the minimum time gap supported between hw-vtep-2 to hw-vtep-3

Hi Mike,

Yes, host move I mean a VM move.

Say ,
- there are two HW-VTEPs(HW-VTEP-1, HW-VTEP-2, HW-VTEP-3) and both are connected to NSX(SSL, Port:6640).
- HW-VTEP-1 has a port 3:1 in vlan 100. This is bonded to Logical Switch segment 5004(so 5004 is nothing but the VxLAN's VNI).
- HW-VTEP-2 has a port 3:1 in vlan 100. This is bonded to Logical Switch segment 5004(so 5004 is nothing but the VxLAN's VNI).
- HW-VTEP-3 has a port 3:1 in vlan 100. This is bonded to Logical Switch segment 5004(so 5004 is nothing but the VxLAN's VNI).

Here is the sequence of events:
1. A VM is connected to HW-VTEP-1 on port 3:1 in vlan100.
2. Now the VM is moved from HW-VTEP-1 to HW-VTEP-2's port 3:1 in vlan100.
3. Now the VM is moved from HW-VTEP-2 to HW-VTEP-3's port 3:1 in vlan100.

Here I would like to know,
1. whether the above sequence is supported with Extreme switches as HW-VTEP?
2. If supported, is there any limitations? Something like between seq#2 and Seq#3, we need to allow atleast x seconds.

Thanks,
Arun.
