Hi,

What cables are you using?
Straight-through or crossover RJ45? Then Extreme RJ45/DB9 adapter + DB9/USB adapter?

Tomasz

Hi Joel,
There isn't a default IP address on the management VLAN/port. However, depending on the software version, the switch will get an IP address via DHCP and will flash the address in the LED panel used to display stacking slot number.

On a G1, there's no default IP. With 21.1+, so G2 and newer switches, a default config switch would try DHCP and if it fails, it would have the link layer IPv4 address, based on the MAC: that would be displayed digit by digit on the LED panel for the stacking slot number (as Drew said).

Hi Drew,

In the past, when ZTP (not ZTP+) was first introduced (16.1 AFAIR), there also was a thing that allowed an EXOS switch to assign an APIPA on his own if no DHCP offer was given, and that IP was in form of 169.254.xx.yy, where the last two octets are the last two octets from the switch's MAC address. Is it still there?

Kind regards,
Tomasz
