Hi Curtis,

Firstly, thanks for bringing to our attention the need for evolve content to clearly explain all the different option modules, types and compatibility. I have written an article that i think will be helpful. I think the origianl article that you highlighted was correct but i agree that it could have been clearer since there is some distinction of terms needed. Please take a look at the article below and let me know what you think to it. I hope it is a good central reference for all thing option module and has links out to other articles where appropriate.

I see what has happened in this case. It is not as simplistic as type 1 or type 2 modules. There are earlier versions of some modules that require a specific serial number range to be compatible with later blades. I will get an article created that covers the scenarios fully.

Unfortunately many cases are being generalized for knowledge base articles so much that they either become unhelpful or wrong. In this case even the specific case described is wrong according to extreme documentation. In practice we have at least one Type1 card running in a 140 or 180 class blade.

Hi Curtis,

I thought you were just raising an issue about the terminology.I will correct the article and check back with the case owner that it was created from. This article only covers one specific situation so i think there is a good evolution case here for an article that covers all scenarios. I will work on getting such an article created as well.

Best Regards
Glyn
