Hi,
On Performance description in X480 datasheet, I get following statement.
"71.4 Mpps, 101.2 Mpps (with VIM2- SummitStack), 166.7Mpps (with VIM2-SummitStack128), 130.9 Mpps (with VIM2-10G4X or VIM3-40G4X) frame forwarding rate"
With wirespeed Gbps to Mpps calculation, 130.9Mpps is wirespeed if this switch using VIM2-10G4X. But if this switch using VIM3-40G4X, this value is not wirepeed. Since the base switch with 71.4Mpps is wirespeed, is that mean that VIM3-40G4X is not wirespeed module? Or, is it miss documentation? By calculation it should be 309.5Mpps.
Anyway, I'm looking the device with at least wirespeed 24x 1000Base-T + 4x 40GBase-X.
Best regards,

Hi,
I'll forward that to the PLM, see what happens.

Hi Grosjean,
It seem that you only calculate the traffic between downlink ports at the frontside to uplink ports at the backside. Even though in fact that the slot is designed for VIM2 module (that's why the wirespeed calculation is right with VIM2-10G4X module), but since the slot is compatible too with VIM3 module (VIM3-40G4X in this case) we should consider 40GbE to 40GbE ports trafic (for example stacking traffic). So I think Extreme should revies the documentation if VIM3-40G4X module itself is wirespeed. I believe this module is wirespeed since it is used on higher series with bigger slot capacity. The similar approach can be seen at Juniper EX4300 series.

Hi, The VIM by itself is wirespeed. But you don't have 4x40Gbps of bandwidth from it to the front ports... which make sense since you don't have the required outgoing interfaces anyway (48x1G max). So I'd call it a wirespeed platform.
