How to make VOSS Fabric transparent for Cisco VTP traffic

How to make VOSS Fabric transparent for Cisco VTP traffic

Hi everyone,

I am are currently setting up a test environment to prepare for a migration from Cisco to an Extreme Networks VOSS Fabric Connect network.

As part of our testing, we need to interconnect our existing Cisco switches through the VOSS Fabric.

Cisco <--> Extreme (Fabric) <--> Cisco

My main requirement is to make the Fabric completely transparent for the Cisco infrastructure, specifically to allow Cisco VTP traffic to pass through seamlessly so that our Cisco switches can sync their VLANs during this transitional phase.

Since i am kinda new to VOSS, could someone please explain the best way to achieve this transparent behavior and provide the necessary configuration steps for the VOSS switches?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Use the Transparent UNI feature for that if you need to transparently bridge any VLAN (tagged or untagged).

Thanks for the reply. It works well and that is indeed what I asked for, however I wanted to specifically sort VTP so that I can still process other Layer 2 traffic like MSTP locally.

Since Transparent UNI tunnels everything blindly, the VOSS switch cannot participate in the Spanning Tree topology.

Is there a way to bypass this under VOSS ?

Thanks,
