I have a question. I have a 4850GTS-PWR+ switch which says has this log after an electrical storm:
show log
Type Time Idx Src Message
---- ----------------------------- ---- --- -------
S 00:00:00:00 1 NVR Error loading primary configuration
block 1
S 00:00:00:00 2 NVR Error loading backup configuration

rupted. Restored to default

iles from block 1

What is in question is if this switch is faulty. So after a Factory Reset-Default and a hard reboot, the log looks like:
4850GTS-PWR+#show log
Type Time Idx Src Message

Would you consider this a soft memory error vs a hard memory error (Permanent)
I would like to add, personally I know the answer to this already. But I need backup.

So in the split second a unit loses power it tries to autosave? So in either instance by looking at the log there is no issue after a reset?

Probably the unit lost power while it was saving the config. You probably have autosave enabled ?
Personally I always do “no autosave enable” on ERS, so that save config only happens if the administrator does so after making config changes (like on VOSS and XOS and most other switches).
