If you experience prolonged failover times in a vIST setup with VRRP and VRRP BackupMaster, ensure you configure VRRP holddown timers:
Enable VRRP holddown with a timer of 30 seconds. This will limit the traffic loss to 100s of miliseconds as it will delay the VRRP transitions until VIST is re-established.
