VSP 7200 v VSP7400?

Can I have someone here explain to me what the major difference between VSP7200 and VSP7400? I am going to buy an aggregation switch, some ERS5900 switches will be connected to it. I was debating which VSP switch I should buy. It is a small site with less than 200 users.

Since the 7400 is an x86 CPU, when are we getting XA1400 features on the 7400?

To add to what Paul mentioned, some additional differences are Power PC CPU on VSP 7200 and x86 CPU on VSP 7400. The use of x86 CPU on VSP 7400 allows us to run additional applications that are x86 centric in VMs on the switch in additional to the switching OS. The first of these VMs is referred to as Guest VM and is an Ubuntu Linux VMs that allows used to run troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, TCP dump etc. You can also run a DHCP server and other useful applications.

the VSP7400 has more options for port speed.  It supports 1/10/25GE on the 48 ports.  and the eight uplink ports support 40/100GE.

the 7200 only supports 1/10GE x48 and 40GE x 6 

The VSP7400 has support for “Insight Architecture”  if you want to run VMs on the switch. 

The VSP7200 is a few years old.   The VSP7400 just came out this year.

And oddly enough the 7400 is less $$$$$. 

All things being equal, I would go 7400.
