OFDMA and BSS Coloring

OFDMA and BSS Coloring

We are installing and configuring a new XIQ Controller- E2122 ver 10.05.02.

Is there an Extreme best practices guide in regard to deploying OFDMA and BSS Coloring.  Both options appear to help with high density deployments.  Our implementation is in a convention centre and anything to improve user experience would be helpful.

Should we implement OFDMA and if so in which direction?

Should we implement BSS Coloring and if so what is the best practice to do so?

Thanks,

Davide Coleman at Extreme Connect remarked that:

OFDMA has been seen in the wild, seems to work in real world  and you should probably turn it on.

There is no sight of clients (chipsets) implementing BSS coloring and we don't know if it will ever be a real world feature.

You can refer to these wifi6 best practices for guidance as well: https://extremeportal.force.com/ExtrArticleDetail?an=000095628

Both of these only offer improvements if you have a majority of 802.11ax capable clients. I haven't seen any real-world studies showing actual improvements, but there's no harm in turning OFDMA on in both directions. BSS colouring however can increase the noise floor for non-11ax clients so I'd be more hesitant to use it without a considered design.
